Pléiades satellite images are being collected during the eruption in Geldingadalir for the monitoring and measurement of lava thickness, lava volume and effusion rate. The latest images, collected on 23rd of March at 13:15, show a cone height of 20 m, a maximum lava thickness of 22 m and an average lava thickness of 9.5 m. The total erupted volume was 1.8 mill. m3,corresponding to an average effusion rate of ~5.7 m3/s since the start of the eruption. The same effusion rate is obtained for the period 22nd of March 13:20 to 23rd of March 13:15.
