IGS Nordic Branch Meeting 2019
30 October - 1 November 2019, Fosshótel Reykholt, Iceland
It is our great pleasure to host the next IGS Nordic Branch meeting in Iceland and hereby invite you all to participate. The meeting will be held between October 30th and November 1st at Fosshótel Reykholt, which is located in the vicinity of Langjökull ice cap (2nd largest in Iceland).
The Icelandic Meteorological Office and The Institute of Earth Sciences, University of Iceland, will host this meeting which will provide great opportunities for scientists and students in glaciology and related topics to present their latest results in relaxed, informal atmosphere. Participants will also have the opportunity to go on an exciting field excursion into the 500 m long man-made ice tunnel in Langjökull (https://intotheglacier.is) on November 1st.
A bus will leave from Reykjavík Wednesday morning at 9:30 to Fosshótel Reykholt (1.5 hr drive) and the program starts after lunch.
A 2-day beginner Elmer/Ice course will take place the 28 and 29 of October 2019 in Reykjavik (Iceland), just before the North Branch IGS meeting. This 2-day course is dedicated to students or researchers aiming to start working with Elmer/Ice. It is sponsored by the University of Iceland, the Icelandic Meteorological Office, CSC and IGE. The number of places is limited to 20, and will be given on the basis of the first registered, first served. To register, send an email to Olivier Gagliardini or Thomas Zwinger with you name, affiliation, position and few lines of motivations to attend the course. There will be no registration fees, but students will have to take care of their lodging and attend the course with their own laptop. More information will be given later on the Elmer/Ice website.
