Háskóli Íslands

International summer school in volcanology is held by the EUROVOLC project 2-6 September in Sicily, on the slopes of Mt. Etna.  The school focuses on sub-surface magmatic processes, how they can be measured and interpreted. Main theme is volcanic activity of Etna, but experience from recent eruptions in Iceland is also presented. The photo shows PhD students in geoscience at University of Iceland at the school (Cécile Ducrocq, Hanna Blanck, Chiara Lanzi, Siqi Li) together with Freysteinn Sigmundsson (one of the teachers at the school) in a field trip at Mt. Etna, where hotel was buried by lava in 2002.
