Congratulations to Rakel María Ellingsen Óttarsdóttir, student in applied mathematics at the University of Iceland, who was among the 5 receiving a special recognition at the event "Innovation Award of the President of Iceland 2024", Very well deserved!
This project about Real-time tide and sea level forecast in Iceland has been a nice collaboration between Halldór Björnsson (Icelandic Meteorological Office) Fannar Gíslason, (Vegagerðinn) and Angel Ruiz Angulo (Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at UI).
Some of these results have been used, for example, at the recent fourth assessment report from the Scientific Committee on Climate Change. The ongoing changing climate is already having an effect on all of us, and we still have a lot of work to do, so thank you very much Rakel for taking this project so far and contributing to this common effort of filling up the knowledge gaps.
